Why Plant Styling is the new go-to Wedding Styling option

Lush botanical weddings have seen an increase in popularity and there’s more to it than you may think! By definition, flora relates to the plants of a particular region, habitat, or geological period. And that’s exactly what native plant styling is all about: using living plants from your natural environment to style a venue, and make it beautifully lush as well as blissfully magical.

Plant styling offers more diversity and alternatives to the wedding and event styling industry. It’s new, it’s up and coming and simply amazing. If you are ready to see something a little different, if you are passionate about our planet and all things green, keep on reading Earthling. We’re talking luscious foliage, living beings, green styling …and eco-weddings! It’s 2020 people. Time to shake things up!

Let’s talk greenery and learn why plant styling is the new go-to wedding styling option.

1. Green styling is the new beautiful

Plants bring life and texture to any space. Whether it be a country barn, seaside venue, lakeside lodge, clear marquee or teepee, plants are a naturally beautiful decoration that looks good in any setting.

Plants are an easy and natural way to transform a blank canvas into a lush green oasis. They can be used for all areas of your wedding, from the ceremony area, surrounding the arch, lining the aisle, to the dining décor, bar styling and all throughout the venue. Plants come in all shapes and sizes; making the styling options endless.

2. Plant hire is eco-friendly

Plants are the green alternative in wedding décor. And we’re not just talking about the green pigment that gives most plants their colour. Plant hire treads lightly on our planet. The nature of a hire item is that it can be reused over and over again – and reusable is good for the the natural world.

Plant hire and styling is a great way to make your big day an eco-wedding. Being kind to the living planet, especially on your wedding day, that’s definitely something to feel good about - and to be proud of! So spread the word, shout it out. Go you, you are awesome!

3. Plants are living (and breathing!)

Plants grow, eat, move and reproduce. Plants are alive! Just like you and me, they are living organisms with a life of their own. Each and every single plant is unique. In a way, they have their own personality. Some have branches going up, maybe across or sideways, one might be bushier, the other slenderer. Like us, their uniqueness makes them that extra special.

They are part of your big day, breathing in the same air as you and your guests. Soaking in the atmosphere. Listening to the music. They’re fabulous guests to have around. Let’s not forget, they even provide the oxygen which helps us breathe – and that’s pretty cool too!

4. Plants make you feel good… oh yes!

We all know how we feel when we’re in nature or surrounded by plants. As humans, we’re wired to feel good in a natural environment. The colour green is understood to be the most relaxing colour for the human eye to view. Green is refreshing! Vibrant green can also make us feel excited – and studies have shown indoor plants can boost mood. Funnily enough, green has also been a symbol of fertility, and back in the 15th century used to be the preferred colour choice for wedding gowns. I guess plants do have super powers :-)

5. Plants create intimate spaces

Trees and larger plants enable you to create intimate spaces in your venue. Placed strategically, plants can create separate areas for quiet zones and lounge spaces for example. They can also be used to partition large rooms. A Living Green Wall is a fabulous option to divide large spaces, or simply as an eye-catching photo backdrop.

Plants are also great at absorbing sound, which keeps the noise levels down and eases conversations - especially when the DJ turns the volume up!

6. Plant styling is innovative (and will wow your guests!)

Last but not least – let’s talk about being unique! Make your big day stand out. Surprise your guests with something different, new and modern! Who doesn’t want to dance the night away in a jungle like setting – or share the dinner table with some adorable living plants? A wedding venue filled with greenery is a fresh new twist on traditional styling. We’ve seen it all over social media, greenery is the new big thing. People are filling their houses with hundreds of plants. If you love nature and you love plants, why not include it in your wedding styling too?
